Mushroom/Ecological Tour of the Khumbu Region in the Himalayas ($6,600)
ECO/MUSHROOM TOUR OF THE KHUMBU REGION IN THE HIMALAYAS
Join IMT on June 11 – June 28, 2024, during peak mushroom season to explore the grandeur of the Khumbu region and Nepal’s World Heritage Sagarmatha National Park on a scientifically guided mushroom and ecological trek to Everest Base Camp. IMT is pleased to announce that internationally renowned mycologist, herbalist, author and botanist Chris Hobbs, Ph.D, Shiva Devkota, Ph.D, Nepal’s foremost mycologist and conservation biologist, along with Sonam Jangbu Sherpa will lead this trek into the biodiverse Solukhumbu and Khumbu regions. The trek takes us through forests of Birch, Juniper, Blue and Himalayan Pine, Bamboo and Rhododendron and is home to rare and endangered mammals such as Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan musk deer, Himalayan Bear, Tibetan Wolf, Snow Leopard (spotted above Phortse Village) and dozens of bird species. Our trek will include a behind the scenes visit to the Buddhist monastery at Tenboche. In Namche Bazar, we will participate in the exciting Buddhist Festival of Dumji.
